Our Memories of Margaret

Created by Barry 3 years ago

When Margaret and her late husband Frank took over as owners of The Fountain Inn at Parkend, they employed Ruth as a cleaner, this was the beginning of a thirty plus years friendship for us both.                Ruth loved her little cleaning job at The Fountain and when Margaret and Frank retired to Whitecroft after the sale of the pub to the Powell family, Ruth continued to work at the pub for Alan, but on the proviso that she would stay on along wiith the pub cats, Rum and Black !                                                                       Ruth continued working for Alan and Michelle for the best part of thirty years.

We became really close friends with Margaret and Frank
Ruth would go up a couple of days a week to help out with any household chores that needed doing, or pottering about in the  garden to help in any way that she could.                                                             Day trips we went on together with Willetts Coaches, also after her husband Frank sadly passed away, we spent holidays together with Margaret and her great friend Gill Hussey, again with Willetts Coaches.          Most memorable of these were a Turkey and Tinsel holiday to the Isle of Wight, it was a really special time.

Ruth and Margaret would always be phoning one another on a regular basis, usually just to put the world to rights, sometimes just to have a good old chinwag !

Margaret was always saying how she had been on Skype to speak with her son David, she found the internet a great source of comfort.                                                                                                                        She was very good at playing patience on the ipad !                                                                               Also if snooker was on tv, you didn’t dare phone then ! Ronnie Sullivan was her favourite player.

Margaret was very independent and would always try to solve any problems that she may be having before worrying anyone else.

As the years passed by and her health began to deteriorate , she became more reliant on her many friends.

We would also like to mention her son David, who has given up everything that he worked so hard to achieve abroad, to come home and care for his Mum, in such a loving way, so that she could spend her last days at home, as was her wish.

We could go and on, telling of the wonderful memories that we have of Margaret, but in closing,we would like to add that Margaret was a wonderful wife, mother, a great friend to many people, a hard working  member of Whitecroft Memorial Hall Committee for many years, a great character of the village, who will be sadly missed, not just by us but by everyone who knew her.

Goodnight Margaret, may you rest in eternal peace alongside your husband Frank.                                Heaven has just gained another Angel.

Love you now and forever

Ruth and Barry xxxx
